Mabank takes win over Eustace in four sets

MABANK–The Mabank Lady Panthers picked up a big win against the Eustace Lady Bulldogs at home Aug. 31.
After Eustace took the first set, Mabank rattled off three straight set wins to wrap up the month of August as the teams inch closer to district play.
The Lady Panthers jumped out in front 6-3 to begin the first set.
An 11-5 run from the Lady Bulldogs put them in control, 14-11.
A kill from Emma Bell and an ace from Izzy McCord pushed Eustace’s lead to 20-15.
Mabank made a late push, but Eustace closed out the first set with a 25-20 victory.
Mabank came out strong and continued to build their lead to 8-2, forcing a Eustace timeout early in the second set.
A kill from Lady Panther Haley Burton increased Mabank’s lead to 12-4.
An ace from Kai Hudson made it 20-7 before the Lady Panthers closed out the second set 25-11.
Mabank continued the strong run by holding the lead in the third set before Eustace pushed back as they trailed 10-9.
An 11-4 run pushed the Mabank lead to 21-13 before the Lady Panthers closed out the set, winning 25-14.
The two teams battled in the fourth set, sitting tied 12-12. Mabank made a surge in front 17-12, forcing a Eustace timeout.
A 9-4 run by the Lady Bulldogs tied the set, 21-21.
The Lady Panthers delivered the final four points to win the game, three sets to one.
The loss drops Eustace to 11-6 overall on the season while Mabank moves to 5-15 overall.
