WACO–The Malakoff Lady Tigers’ season wrapped up after two hard fought wins and a close loss to the Fairfield Eaglettes Feb. 26 in Waco.
After Fairfield scored 102 points in the Regional semifinals, the Lady Tigers held them to half of that total as they fell to the Eaglettes, 51-33, in the Regional final.
The Lady Tigers took down the Lorena Leopards in the Regional quarterfinal Feb. 22 by a score of 41-29 to advance to the Regional semifinals.
Malakoff would take on the Central Heights Blue Devils out of Nacogdoches. The Lady Tigers came out victirous, 57-42, to advance and take on the Fairfield Eaglettes in the Regional final with a spot in the State tournament on the line.
Going up against a tough Fairfield team ranked near the top in the state that had just handed Hitchcock a convincing 102-29 defeat, the Lady Tigers held the Eaglettes to 51 points.
Fairfield has suffered just one loss during the 2021-22 season and postseason in their third game of the season against La Vega with the Eaglettes going 36-0 since Nov. 22.
Malakoff wraps up the season at 30-7 overall and as District, Bi-district, Area, Regional quarterfinal and Regional semifinal champions as well as Regional finalists.
