Mina Staton

Funeral services for Mina Staton were held Dec. 9, 2019 at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank with Rev. Brian McWhorter officiating. A graveside service followed at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Mina was born Sept. 9, 1946 in Dallas to parents Melvin Finis and Mary Hope (Lindsay) Burkett and entered into eternal rest Dec. 5, 2019 at the age of 73.
Mina graduated from Rylie High School, where she was part of the Alumni and a cheerleader. She was very caring and nurturing and never met a stranger. Mina has been in the Mabank area for over 30 years.
She was well-loved and had a lot of friends. Mina met her husband Timothy Staton, when she worked in the cafeteria at Mabank Elementary. They were married May 5, 1990.
Mina was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. She gave everyone and everything a nickname. Mina enjoyed traveling to Shreveport. She was a devoted Cowboys fan and would work the games at the Cotton Bowl when she was a young teenager.
Mina was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mina was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Kimberly Dawn Williams and brothers Johnny Burkett and Melvin “Burkie” Burkett.
She is survived by her loving husband Timothy Staton of Mabank, daughters Denise Rene’ Olson and husband Greg of Combine and Brandy Annette Hudson and husband Scott of Mabank, son Melvin Finis Williams of Mesquite, grandchildren Ryan, Sarah, Logan, Adam, Haley and Casey, great-grandchildren Dawson and Annie, brothers Pete Burkett and wife Peggy of Quinlan and Wilburn ”Stoney” Burkett and wife Ginger of Seagoville, numerous nieces and nephews, other loving family members and many more lifelong friends.
