GUN BARREL CITY–Gun Barrel City has selected Jeff Norris to become the next Chief of Police of the Gun Barrel City Police Department. Chief Norris had been acting as the Interim Chief after Chief Jeff Arnswald was selected to serve as Interim, then permanent, City Manager.
Chief Norris has been employed by Gun Barrel City Police Department since 2013, as an officer, sergeant, and investigative supervisor prior to his current position. During the past six months as Interim Chief of Police, he has provided organizational leadership and continued to develop and build community trust with the citizens of Gun Barrel City.
Chief Norris understands the complexity of contemporary policing requirements in the 21st century, and his familiarity with local needs and resources will assist him in providing security and service to City residents.
Chief Norris holds a Master Peace Officer license, and has extensive training in many different law enforcement disciplines. He has a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences from Midwestern State University and recently completed his Masters of Science in Criminal Justice, Police Leadership and Management from Sam Houston State University.
