Mabank tops Wills Point on the road, move to 3-0
WILLS POINT–The Mabank Panthers have yet to taste defeat as they topped the Wills Point Tigers Sept. 13 on the road.
Panthers junior quarterback Dahltyn McKinnley began the game with a 17-yard touchdown run to put Mabank ahead 6-0 early over the Tigers.
With the Panthers hemmed deep in their own territory, McKinnley connected on a 53-yard pass to Devyn Gibbs to put Mabank in Wills Point territory.
Caleb Goforth tacked on a three-yard touchdown run to increase the Panthers lead to 14-0 over the Tigers in the second quarter.
McKinnley once again hit Gibbs on a deep pass as Gibbs made a 37-yard catch to set up a field goal late in the third quarter as the Panthers put the game away as they scratched out a 17-14 victory over the Tigers.
The Panthers ended the night with 298 total yards of offense with 220 coming on the ground.
The win keeps Mabank undefeated to start the 2019 season as they move to 3-0. The Panthers hope to keep the train rolling as they stay on the road to face the Canton Eagles (1-2) Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
