Panthers pounce with strong second half

MABANK–The Mabank Panthers wrapped up a nice win over the Quinlan Ford Panthers Dec. 15 at home.
After a low-scoring start from both teams, Mabank strung together three impressive quarters to take down Quinlan, 56-48. 
After falling behind 3-2 early in the first quarter, Mabank took their first lead on a corner three-point shot by Caden Smith, putting Mabank ahead 7-5. Mabank ended the quarter on a 4-0 run to take an 11-7 lead into the second quarter.
Landry Johnson knocked down a three-pointer, followed by two free throws from Sean Henry to increase Mabank’s lead to 16-7. Quinlan outscored Mabank 13-11 to end the first half trailing 27-20. 
Nathan Mulder and Smith hit back-to-back three-pointers to begin the second half to increase Mabank’s lead to 35-25. Henry added another three-point shot towards the end of the third quarter as Mabank led 44-36 heading into the fourth quarter.
The two teams were even in the fourth quarter with 12 points each as Mabank sealed a 56-48 win at home Tuesday night. 
Mabank was led by their two top scorers, Smith and Henry, who had 14 and 13 points respectively. Johnson hit double digits as well with 10 points against Wills Point.
