Mabank tops Sunnyvale, moves to 4-2
MABANK–The Mabank Panthers picked up their fourth victory over the Sunnyvale Raiders at home Dec. 4.
Cade Bell picked up the first points for the Panthers on a quick layup to Mabank ahead 2-0.
After the Raiders tied the game, Bell hit a three-point shot to jump back ahead 5-2.
Landry Johnson ended the first quarter with another three-point shot to bump Mabank’s lead to 10-7.
An early jump shot from Caleb Dally and two free throws from Bell made it a 14-11 game in favor of the Panthers.
Another two free throws from Dally pushed the Panthers’ lead to 26-19 halfway through the second quarter.
Bell ended the first half with an and-1 as the Panthers took a 31-21 lead heading into halftime.
Devyn Gibbs opened the third quarter with an inbound layup for the Panthers’ first points of the second half as Mabank pushed ahead 33-23.
Both teams added six points each to make it a 39-29 game late in the third quarter.
Bell added another and-1 late in the third quarter to make it a 48-31 game after three quarters.
Gavin Scrimshire went 1/2 from the free throw line to begin the fourth quarter to make it a 49-33 game.
Scrimshire fouled out with 5:55 remaining in the fourth quarter for the Panthers.
Gibbs added a late and-1, followed by a quick layup from Noah Johnston late in the fourth quarter.
Dally sealed the victory with two late free throws as the Panthers went on to defeat the Raiders 62-49.
Dally led the way offensively for the Panthers as he picked up 20 points in the win.
Bell and Gibbs each added 13 points over the Raiders. Johnson added nine points as well in the win.
The Panthers move to 4-2 with the win.
Mabank hits the court next on the road against Quinlan Ford after they return from their game against Lindale at the American Airlines Center in Dallas Saturday, Dec. 8.
Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. in Quinlan.
