PAYNE SPRINGS–During a special called meeting Oct. 27, the Payne Springs City Council voted to terminate City Secretary Karen Juica’s employment with the city.
Juica, who had been with the city for some time acting as the city judge and secretary, was recently arrested along with her husband council member and Maintenance Supervisor, Michael Juica, following a multi-agency investigation.
Sept. 14, the city council held an emergency meeting placing Karen Juica on paid administrative leave, removed from all accounts and replaced by Mayor Pro-Tem Andrea Miller.
In the press release from Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse, the Juica’s were arrested Sept. 17 after an investigation involving the Texas Comptroller, Henderson County Sheriff’s Office and Henderson County Attorney Clint Davis. The press release states that the investigation is ongoing.
