Malakoff moves to 4-0 in district play with victory over Eustace
MALAKOFF–The Malakoff Tigers remained perfect in district play as they finished off their regular season home finale with a big win over the Eustace Bulldogs Nov. 1.
The Tigers opened Senior night with a 24-yard touchdown pass, followed by a 49-yard touchdown pass to take a 14-0 lead over the Bulldogs after the first quarter.
The Tigers added a 54-yard rushing touchdown to increase their lead to 21-0 early in the second quarter.
Malakoff quarterback Darion Peace kept the charge going as he delivered an 80-yard bomb for another Tigers touchdown to make it a 28-0 game over Eustace.
A short one-yard pass and a 14-yard run made it a commanding 42-0 lead for the Tigers at halftime.
Peace added another 60-yard touchdown pass to begin the third quarter as Malakoff pushed their lead to 49-0 over the Bulldogs.
Hector Romero drilled a 33-yard field goal to increase Malakoff’s lead to 52-0 before the Tigers added a two-yard touchdown run as they went up 58-0 entering the fourth quarter.
Malakoff added two final scores on a 28-yard touchdown pass and quick 10-yard run as the Tigers dominated the Bulldogs on their way to a 72-0 district victory.
Paxton Schwartz finished 2/6 for 18 passing yards and two interceptions for the Bulldogs.
Charles Spencer led the way with 11 carries for 28 yards while Jake Haney added 25 yards, Wyatt Farmer finished with 23 rushing yards and Dakota Crittenden rounded out with 21 yards on the ground for Eustace.
Peace finished the 8/9 for 309 passing yards and four touchdowns. Peace also had three carries for three yards and one rushing touchdown.
Duce Hart, Javion Hornbuckle, Keevie Rose and Dedric Davis each had a rushing touchdown against the Bulldogs.
Andreas Garrett, Nathan Jones, Riggin Smith, Cabien Trimble and Davis also added one touchdown reception apiece as the Tigers spread the wealth offensively Friday night.
The loss drops Eustace to 2-7 overall and 1-3 in district play. The Bulldogs return to the field for their final regular season contest as they host Senior night at home Nov. 8 against the Dallas Madison Trojans (7-2, 3-1 district) with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.
The win moves Malakoff to 8-1 overall and 4-0 as they remain undefeated in district play. The Tigers hit the road for their regular season finale as they travel to Kemp Nov. 7 to take on the Yellowjackets (3-6, 2-2 district) at 7 p.m.
