Richard A. “Rick” Koziol

Memorial services for Richard A. “Rick” Koziol were held Aug. 25, 2018 at Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Chapel in Mabank with Father Dan Daugherty officiating. Richard A. “Rick” Koziol, 76, a resident of Star Harbor, formerly of Beaver Falls, Pa., passed away peacefully in Athens Aug. 19, 2018. Richard was born the son of Marion A. Koziol, Sr. and Victoria Zwierzchon Koziol in Beaver Falls, Pa., April 9, 1942. He met and married Delores J. Koziol Oct. 12, 1991, 26 years to his passing. Upon graduating in 1959 from Beaver Falls High School in Pennslyvania, he joined the U.S. Army. Serving 35 years to his beloved country, during those years he was in Germany for two tours and served in the Vietnam War. Richard was also based in Korea. He served in the Special Forces and as a Green Beret. He attained many military awards of meritorious and commendations. Richard was awarded the Order of St. George as a Distinguished Knight for his long and honorable service to the Army and Calvary. He rode with the Black Horse Stables and was a distinguished member of California National Guard. Retiring in September of 1994, Richard moved from California to Mesquite. Richard was employed with the City of Dallas Police Department as an Assistant Manager of the records department moving up to the Manager of Records. During his employment there, he taught NCIC/TCIC to Dallas Policemen, then retiring in 2003. Richard was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Vietnam Veterans Association. He was a volunteer of Corsicana Angels and Meals on Wheels in Malakoff. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brother Christopher Bielewicz. He is survived by his loving wife Delores Koziol of Star Harbor, daughter Virginia Koziol, sons Anthony Koziol and John Koziol, all of California, grandson Doug Briscoe and Amy of Yuba City, Calif., sister Irene Bielewicz Oravitz and Michael of Pa., sister Gloria Bielewicz and Jerry of Fla., three stepchildren Jeffrey Hallam and Kevin Hallam of Fairfield and Tammy Hallam Walker and Steve of Frisco. In lieu of flowers the family request that contributions be made in Richard’s honor to the Corsicana Angels of Corsicana.
