Sallie Colene Phillips Busby

Colene Busby, 79, of Mabank passed away April 25, 2021. Colene was born in Kemp Nov. 11, 1941, the second child of four children born to Lester “Bill” and Viola Robertson Phillips.  
In 1957, Colene married the love of her life and best friend, Carl Wayne “Judge” Busby.  Judge’s twenty year military career took them and their family all over the world and the United States. Colene supported her husband and country by ensuring “home” was established wherever they were stationed. 
After Judge retired from the Air Force, Colene continued her unwavering devotion to her husband and family, making Mabank their final home. Colene then had a long and successful career at Mabank Bank, retiring as Assistant Vice-President.  
Upon Colene’s retirement she spent many years alongside Judge in their ranching and hay bailing business.
Colene enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting and listening to country and western music with Judge.  She also enjoyed feeding and watching birds, gardening, sewing, crocheting and crafts.  
In her twenties, Colene was offered a career as a professional bowler, but declined the invitation for her family. They also enjoyed having family and friends gather for fish fries, horseshoes, darts, card games and 42 at their “party barn.”
Colene was preceded in death by her parents, sister Geraldine Jane Watts, son Garry Wayne Busby and her husband Carl Wayne “Judge” Busby.
Colene is survived by her daughters Lorinda Busby and Mary Lindamood, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, sister Mary Wells and brother Arnold Dee Phillips and numerous nieces and nephews.Colene will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
