Sheri Nell (Phillips) Green died peacefully at her home March 25, 2020 at the age of 66 after a long, hard fought battle with cancer.
She was a Malakoff native and there was a special place in her heart for the friends and families of those she grew up with. Sheri also touched the heart of many during her travels all over the world.
Sheri was born Feb. 22, 1954 in Athens to JP Phillips and Vera Doris Davis Phillips. She graduated from Malakoff High School in 1972 and was married to her high school sweetheart James “Preston” Green Sept. 1, 1972. Soon after being married she left Malakoff and lived in a number of countries around the Middle East and Asia before returning home to the Malakoff area to retire.
Sheri was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother Mary Stacy Phillips and niece Lindsay Peyton Goen.
She is survived by her husband James Preston Green of Mabank, sons James Paxton Green and wife Shree and Caleb Davis Green and wife Kristin Green, grandsons Briley and Bryce Green of Midlothian and Brady Green of Lewisville, father-in-law James R. Green of Tool and brother Paul Davis Phillips of Athens. She is also cherished by her brother-in-law Mike Green and his wonderful wife Barbara (deceased), sisters-in-law Charlsey Holler and husband Jeff and Mary “Meg” Hughes and husband Johnny (deceased), a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins that will miss her dearly.
A memorial will be announced at a later date due to current healthcare related restrictions.
