Sixth inning sinks Mabank on Senior night

MABANK–The Mabank Lady Panthers wrapped up their 2021 regular season with a tough loss to the Canton Eaglettes April 20 on Senior night.
Tuesday night’s game was the final regular season home game for Mabank’s Kallie Beasley, Mackenzie Morgan and Hannah Hanes. 
After a back-and-forth game between Mabank and Canton, the Eaglettes plated seven runs in the sixth inning to take home the 14-8 victory.
Canton began the scoring trend with four runs in the top of the second inning to take an early 4-0 lead. 
Mabank responded with three runs in the bottom of the third inning to close the gap to one run. 
The Lady Panthers took their first lead of the night as they plated two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to go ahead 5-4. 
The Eaglettes pushed back in front with three runs in the top of the fifth inning to regain a 7-5 lead. 
Mabank responded with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game 7-7.
The game was put out of reach with a long, seven-run inning in the top of the sixth inning as Mabank plated one more run as they fell 14-8. 
Canton scored 14 runs on 15 hits with Mabank plating eight runs on five hits. Both teams struggled in the field as they combined for 15 errors in the contest.
Bailee Sales went four innings for the Lady Panthers, striking out four Eaglettes.
