Kerens varsity boys’ team finishes sixth, varsity Lady ’Cats take eighth
MALAKOFF–Kerens High School cross country teams started the 2019 season at the annual Tiger Invitational at Malakoff High School, where Bobcat boys’ runner Cesar Solis won first place.
Solis ran the boys’ course in 18 minutes, 9.68 seconds, helping lead the varsity team to a sixth-place overall finish out of 13 high-school teams entered in the race. Members of the Kerens varsity boys team averaged 22 minutes, 56.81 seconds during the race.
The Kerens girls took eighth place out of 14 varsity teams, with an average time of 18 minutes, 9.94 seconds. Guadalupe Limon turned in the best time for the Kerens varsity girls, running in 16 minutes, 57.25 seconds.
Kerens High School also entered two runners in the junior varsity division of the Malakoff race. Laura Williams finished the course in 19 minutes, 0.91 seconds, while Lacey Randle ran in 21 minutes, 38.20 seconds.
The Bobcats cross country boys also entered participants in the junior varsity division. Andreas Maldonado turned in a time of 14 minutes, 43.14 seconds, Jacob Williams ran the race in 15 minutes, 12.7 seconds and Joshua Delgado finished in 16 minutes, 50.44 seconds.
