Steve Shipley

A funeral service for Steve Shipley of Mabank, is scheduled at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021 at Lakeside Baptist Church in Canton. Carlton Young will officiate. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. A private burial will be held at Still Waters Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville. Services are under the direction of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr in Athens.
Steve was born Sept. 13, 1949 and entered eternal life while surrounded by his family Oct. 9, 2021.
He graduated from Kemp High School and served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. Steve was the loving husband of Annette (Autry) Shipley. They were married June 5, 1970.
In his early years, he worked as a carpenter. His passion as a freelance photographer grew into a 40-year career that he truly enjoyed. He created Shipley’s Photography and retired in 2019.
He was an avid hunter and was the director at Big Rock Gun Club. He was a Deacon at Lakeside Baptist Church in Canton and a lifelong Mason. Steve was a wonderful husband, father and doting grandfather, who will be missed beyond measure.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Billy Joe Shipley.
Left to cherish Steve’s memory are his beloved wife of 51 years Annette Shipley, mother Letha Shipley, sons and daughters-in-law Dan and Shel Shipley and Jeff and Dirna Shipley and daughter and son-in-law Sarah and Stephen Hughes, siblings Brenda Poil and Mark Shipley and wife Carol, grandchildren Callie Beth Shipley, Tip Shipley, Nicolas Shipley, Amelia Shipley, Aubrey Hughes, Nathan Hughes and Joel Hughes and many nieces and nephews.
