MALAKOFF–Nestled on a peninsula on the southern end of Cedar Creek Lake lies Sunrise Point, an upscale overnight and events venue with contemporary cottage suites and abundant amenities, which its owners call “a little gem” and “luxury in nature.”
Sunrise Point at Cedar Creek Lake marks its one-year anniversary from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, June 19 with a “Float By & Say Hi” event during which watercraft can stop by and receive a Sunrise Point Boat Tote full of goodies. Vehicular visitors are discouraged for the event.
Sunrise Point, located at 3199 County Road 1708 near Malakoff, includes four 450 square-foot cottage suites color-coordinated to match its native birds and offers private patios with gas grills and a propane fire, along with an adjacent swimming pool, hot tub, putting green, disc golf, paddleboards and horseshoes amid a serene setting on 1,800 feet of lakefront with a full view of Cedar Creek Lake.
The venue doesn’t allow children or pets, which is one reason why owners Ann and Sue Wigodsky (“We both flunked retirement,” Sue states) say Sunrise Point has been booked solid since its opening, except for the February freeze. Its main audience is 40-somethings who prefer contemporary over rustic, the Wigodskys say.
Sunrise Point at Cedar Creek Lake also hosts events such as weddings, parties, luncheons and dinners. The property includes two decks and a dock, with access to an indoor kitchen, along with a barbecue grill and meat smoker.
