A table for 13

HENDERSON COUNTY—After 13 American service members were killed in a bombing at the Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, Ochoa’s Mexican Restaurant in Malakoff and the Athens Brewing Company (ABC) in Athens decided to honor the service members like many other restaurants around Texas and the country.
“We would like to show our respect with one of our tables. It sits empty with 13 beers honoring the sacrifices our soldiers in Afghanistan paid on Aug. 26,” Ochoas said on social media. Athens Brewing Company stated, “Tonight this table will be reserved out of respect and honor of the 13 fallen with 13 beers from ABC.”
The 13 service members that were killed in the attack were Maxton Soviak United States Navy, David Espinoza United States Marine Corps, Jared Schmitz United States Marine Corps, Ryan Knauss United States Airforce, Johanny Rosario United States Marine Corps, Nicole Gee United States Marine Corps, Kareem Kikoui United States Marine Corps, Rylee McCollum United States Marine Corps, Hunter Lopez United States Marine Corps, Taylor Hoover United States Marine Corps, Daegan Page United States Marine Corps, Dylan Merola United States Marine Corps and Humberto Sanchez United States Marine Corps.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those who lost their loved ones or were injured in the attack,” ABC stated on social media. “May your souls rest in peace with our heavenly father. We don’t know them all, but we owe them all,” Ochoas stated.
