Tigers dominant in five-inning rout

EUSTACE–The Malakoff Tigers kept their impressive winning streak alive as they took down the Eustace Bulldogs on the road April 27.
The Tigers put together a nice shutout effort over the Bulldogs as they topped Eustace 10-0 in five innings.
Malakoff plated the first two runs of the game in the second inning after both teams went scoreless in the first inning, taking an early 2-0 lead.
The Tigers exploded for five runs in the third inning as they increased their lead over the Bulldogs to 7-0.
Malakoff finished off the game with three runs in the top of the fourth inning and a shutout fifth inning to win 10-0.
Malakoff pitcher Alan Benhardt and Riggin Smith each had two hits for the Tigers in the game. Benhardt added an RBI and Smith notched three RBIs in the win over Eustace.
Cole Gaddis worked three walks against Eustace with Erik Waldo adding two walks Tuesday night. 
Benhardt picked up the complete game win with five innings of shutout work, allowing just two hits and six strikeouts.
Before their loss April 24 to Hudson, the Tigers had not lost a game since March 20 against China Spring. 
With the victory, Malakoff sits at 25-5 overall this season with Eustace dropping to 13-12. Both teams have clinched spots in the 2021 UIL State playoffs.
