Malakoff tops Mildred, move to 4-0 in district
CORSICANA–The Malakoff Tigers used their explosive bats at the plate to top the Mildred Eagles April 5 on the road.
The Tigers didn’t take long to jump ahead of the Eagles as they rattled off nine runs in the top of the first inning to take a quick 9-0 lead.
The Tigers plated four more runs in the top of the second inning to increase their lead to 13-0 after two innings of play.
The Tigers tacked on another run in the top of the third inning to make it a 14-0 game before Mildred took to the plate in the bottom of the third inning.
The Eagles finally got on the board with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to make it 14-3.
Malakoff responded with three more runs in the top of the fourth inning to make it a 17-3 contest.
The Eagles managed just two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as the Tigers cruised on their way to a 17-5 district victory.
Dario Peace and Erik Waldo added four hits each for the Tigers in the win over Mildred. Cully McCoy added three hits and two RBIs in the contest while Waldo racked up three RBIs against the Eagles.
Cole Gaddis drove in three runs for the Tigers in their district win Friday night.
The win moves the Tigers to 15-7 overall on the season as Malakoff remains undefeated at 4-0 in district play. Malakoff hits the field against April 12 on the road as they take on West with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
