Malakoff moves to 2-0 in district play in huge win
DALLAS–The Malakoff Tigers continued to roll as they picked up a huge district win over the Dallas A+ Academy Knights Oct. 17 on the road.
Malakoff started the game off with an early rushing touchdown four minutes into the game to take an early 7-0 lead.
Three minutes later, the Tigers tacked on seven more points to make it a 14-0 game in favor of Malakoff.
The Tigers added two more touchdowns before the end of the first quarter as they sat in command, 28-0, after 12 minutes of play.
Three touchdowns later, the Tigers held a commanding 49-0 lead at halftime against the Knights.
After increasing their lead to 56-0 early in the third quarter, a defensive fumble recovery led to another touchdown for the Tigers as they increased their lead to 63-0.
The Tigers’ defense came up huge again as they added a safety to increase their lead to 65-0 with six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
Malakoff added one more touchdown in the final minutes as they dominated the Knights and strolled their way to a 72-0 shutout victory.
Darion Peace went 9/12 passing for 163 yards and one touchdown in the win. Peace added one carry for a 20-yard touchdown.
Dedric Davis added four carries for 34 yards and two touchdowns. Keevie Rose also had two carries for two touchdowns and 67 rushing yards.
Jaylon Hart and Riggin Smith each added two touchdown receptions in the win over Dallas A+ Academy.
The win moves Malakoff to 6-1 overall on the season and 2-0 to begin district play as they sit in a tie for first place in 3A-1 Region II District 6 standings with Dallas Madison.
Malakoff returns to the field Friday, Nov. 1 at home against the Eustace Bulldogs (1-6, 1-1 district) with a 7:30 p.m. scheduled kickoff.
