Tornadoes damage buildings, uproot trees

CEDAR CREEK LAKE–Two tornadoes spun out of Saturday’s storms, uprooting trees and damaging buildings in Henderson, Van Zandt and Kaufman Counties.
A tornado in Henderson County began as an EF0 and strengthened into an EF1, leveled M Propane on State Highway 31 in Malakoff, then went on to cause more damage, including uprooting a tree into the rehabilitation building at Cedar Lake Nursing Home. The nursing home reported that the building was empty at the time and no staff or residents were injured. The building sustained significant damage.
An EF0 tornado began in Van Zandt County, damaging a barn and uprooting several trees before traveling west into Kaufman County where it tore the roof off a barn on County Road 4007 and downed several large trees on properties on Farm to Market Road 90 and nearby roads.
No injuries were reported.
