HENDERSON COUNTY–An Athens man was stopped in his vehicle Monday night when Henderson County Narcotics Investigators found him with a loaded .38 special, methamphetamines and a pipe to smoke the drug.
William Allen Henderson, 57, was pulled over for a traffic violation around 9 p.m. as he turned onto Trey Circle just outside of Athens.
During a search of his vehicle, the two-man team of Investigators first discovered a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine and a glass pipe commonly used to smoke the narcotic.
The Investigators – Kenneth Slaton and Gabriel Shue – then found a loaded .38 special handgun in the center console of the vehicle. Henderson is a convicted felon and prohibited from carrying a firearm.
He was placed under arrest, charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm by a felon and taken to the Henderson County Jail.
Bonds were set at $18,500.
