Trinidad battles in tough district for upcoming season
TRINIDAD–The Trinidad Trojans finished the 2018 season strong, clinching a postseason berth and battling against a strong Calvert team.
The Trojans playoff hopes came up short as they fell in Bi-district round.
The Trojans closed out their season strong by winning four of their final five regular season games that got them into the playoffs.
Trinidad had a huge turnover of players after last season and see a lot of new faces entering the 2019 season. Head Coach Chad Satcher says the important thing is to get playing time and to get players involved in the game.
“With the turnover of 14 players, the important thing is to get reps,” Satcher said. “Our main thing right now is getting players used to playing on both sides of the football.”
In a tough district that saw Oakwood advance all the way to the State semifinals, the Trojans still see themselves as a threat in a district that doesn’t forgive.
“Matching up on paper, we match up a lot better than in the past. They got hit with a huge graduation like us, but we believe we can battle with them.”
With a team that has a lot of new faces and players learning to play fast offense and stout defense in a strong district.
