MABANK–Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Park, an official Wreaths Across America (WAA) location, will host a wreath laying ceremony. Joining more than 2,100 other locations across the country and Europe for National Wreaths Across America Day.
The event will be coordinated by Sarah Maples Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) and the City of Mabank and led by volunteers. Their fundraising efforts have raised enough money to place 160 wreaths on the headstones of our fallen service members at this cemetery. This is a second annual event with the mission to remember, honor and teach ensuring the memory of those who serviced our country endures.
Wreaths Across America is a 501 (c9) (3) non-profit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath laying at Arlington National Cemetery by Maine businessman, Morrill Worcester in 1992.  For more information go to YouTube to watch videos of its mission. The sponsored wreaths are transported by thousands of truckers all over the United States and delivered to cemeteries for wreath laying ceremonies. Many businesses sponsor groups of volunteers to both lay and take up the wreaths. It is the hope of the NSDAR that people volunteer or help to add additional cemeteries around the lake.
This year the ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19 at Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Park located at 16701 State Highway 198 North, a half mile east of Mabank. All families, veterans, government officials, organizations, schools and clubs are invited.
