Agencies respond to shots fired

GUN BARREL CITY–Gun Barrel City Police Sergeant Stevens and Officer Luna responded to the area of 159 Bedfords Bend for a report of shots heard at approximately 9:28 a.m., Nov. 30.
According to Sergeant Connie Peña upon the officers arrival, Sergeant Stevens and Officer Luna exited their vehicle and began to canvas the area. As Sergeant Stevens was standing near the rear of 159 Bedfords Bend, numerous gunshots from a high-power rifle were heard coming from the backyard area. Investigator Pollard, Sergeant Pena, Captain Stephens and Chief Williams all responded to the scene. According to a press release by Sergeant Connie Peña, numerous attempts to have the occupants exit the front of the residence went unanswered.
Chief Williams notified Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse and requested assistance. Law enforcement from the Henderson County Sheriff's Office, Department of Public Safety, Texas Rangers, Henderson County Constable Precinct's 1 and 2 and the Henderson County District Attorney's Office responded to the scene for assistance.
Tactical teams from the Henderson County Sheriff's Office, the Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers responded and began attempting negotiations. Investigation determined a 15-year-old male juvenile and an 18-year-old female were likely inside the residence. The 15-year-old male juvenile and 18-year-old female voluntarily exited the residence and were detained.
Tactical teams determined the scene was safe with no further threat to public safety at 1:43 p.m., Nov. 30.
“A special thank you to Sheriff Botie Hillhouse and all the regional law enforcement agencies who responded to help bring this incident to a peaceful conclusion,” Gun Barrel City Police Department stated on social media.
