Mabank baseball tryouts approaching in late January

MABANK–The Mabank Panthers 2023 baseball season is fast approaching.
Tryouts for the junior varsity and varsity squads are set for Jan. 20-21.
Those interested in playing are encouraged to meet with Coach Bartley in Room 220 at Mabank High School.
The 2023 season is set to begin Feb. 4 with the Panthers first home scrimmage against Dallas Sunset at 1 p.m.

The Eustace Lady Bulldogs and the Eustace Bulldogs fall in their matchups with the Scurry-Rosser Lady Wildcats and Wildcats Dec. 20 at home. The Lady Bulldogs fall 39-27 and sit at 9-8 overall and 2-1 in district play. The Bulldogs fall 55-40 to Scurry-Rosser and are 2-13 overall and 0-1 in district play.

Kerens ISD conditionally approves tax deals, Navarro County Wind

Body

KERENS–Kerens ISD trustees voted Dec. 12 to approve resolutions conditionally approving two proposed agreements to limit appraised property values related to certain school taxes for two separate wind and solar projects planned within the district.
Both agreements would limit such values as applied to school district maintenance and operations taxes for Navarro County Wind and Gaia Solar. The agreements fall under the Texas Economic Development Act, which is Chapter 313 of the state tax code and which is set to expire Dec. 31.

Athens joins county child crimes task force

HENDERSON COUNTY–Henderson County Commissioners’ Court voted Dec. 20 to enter into an interlocal agreement with the City of Athens for the Crimes Against Children Task Force, the fifth entity in the county to join the task force.
