SEVEN POINTS–The city council of Seven Points met for a special meeting called June 26. Tempers flared due to an executive session agenda item. The stated item was a personnel matter concerning police chief Raymond Wennerstrom.

Happy 70th Anniversary Mabank Rodeo

The 70th annual Mabank Rodeo kicks off June 27 with the carrying of the flags around the Alene & Andrew Gibbs Memorial Arena before the United Professional Rodeo Association’s Rodeo begins. The annual rodeo is traditionally held the last week of June that includes a week full of events, hometown spirit and rodeo entertainment.

Third person drowns in Cedar Creek Lake

CEDAR CREEK LAKE-A 43-year-old man drowned while swimming in rough waters with his family June 22.
Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse said the incident took place around 5:45 p.m. near the Mantle Manors subdivision of Gun Barrel City. 
The man was swimming with his family when he went after a float but went under in rough water and drowned. 
Hillhouse stated that game wardens cleared the scene before the drownings of two girls later the same day. 
Authorities have not released the man’s name.

 

Mabank Rodeo crowns 2025 queen
