MABANK–Mabank Fire Department held its annual banquet March 11, celebrating 102 years of service to the community. 
Mabank High School senior and Mabank Fire Department Cadet Blayne Adams was chosen as the 2022 Firefighter of the Year. Blayne was joined by his father, Councilman and Firefighter Tyson Adams and grandfather Kaufman County Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace and Firefighter Johnny Adams. Blayne’s great-grandfather also served as a volunteer firefighter. Blayne joined the department as a cadet in 2018 and has already logged 726 calls, 295 in 2022.
Two firefighters also received 15-yer service pins, Medical Office Kenneth Tanner and Chaplain Jim Vess.
The Mabank Fire Department responded to 997 calls last year including:
• 125 Motor Vehicle Accidents
• 479 Emergency Medical Calls
• 54 Structure Fires
• 184 Grass Fires
• 33 Smoke Investigations
• 15 Car Fires and 
• 107 Miscellaneous calls.
