OMI projectors create immersive learning activities for students at all ability levels.

KEMP–The Kemp ISD Board of Trustees approved purchases of more than $150,000 in Autism Grant funds for tools for autistic students on campus July 17 at the board’s regular meeting. Kemp ISD Special Populations Director Jennifer Phillips presented the products to the board which include pre-vocational curriculum materials and interactive projectors.
The pre-vocational materials are produced by Hands-On Tasks, INC., a Katy-based company specializing in tools to help special needs students refine motor skills, organize materials and gain skills for the future. The curriculum comes in the form of skills sets comprised of everyday tasks such as sorting and packing as well as targeted skills with varying difficulty, with 15 tasks per assortment. The tasks are specifically designed to complement each other and aid students in becoming more independent in adulthood.
The interactive OMI projectors will be purchased from Fun and Function and offer an array of activities for special needs students at any level of ability. The projectors beam images, sounds and images onto a surface which students can then interact with. Students earn visual, emotional and aural “rewards” while actively exploring the world within the many applications available. All OMI projectors come with a Sensory Suite which includes over 300 applications for nature interaction, physical agility and mental stimulation games.
With the board’s approval, each Kemp ISD campus will receive a projector so that all special needs students in the district can experience them. The pre-vocational sets are also available to students from three years old to 22.
