Mabank High School bass fishermen Gavin Foote (from left), Caid Wilkerson, Aaron Roden and Nathan Carruth compete at the May 31 - June 1 Texas High School Bass Association tournament at Lake Conroe. Carruth and Roden, guided by Captain Gary Harrison, weighed in at 5.32 pounds on Day 2, totaling 17.58 pounds over the two-day tournament. Caid Wilkerson and Foote, led by Captain Eric Wilkerson, weighed in at 2.40 pounds on Day 2, totaling 8.44 pounds over the two days.

City of Kemp’s Myranda Gilmore (from left) welcomes new Chief of Police Curtis Kaloi. Kaloi’s new position for the city became effective May 27.

FORT CAMPBELL, KY—Sgt. Aaron Cox, 24 of Mabank has been identified as the soldier who died as a result of a training accident near Camp Croft in Hungary June 5. 
Cox was an Infantryman assigned to the “Strike” 2nd Mobile Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He died resulting of wounds from a vehicle accident during preparations for the upcoming Exercise Saber Guardian 25 in Hungary.
