Funeral services for Willie Wheeler, 77 were held Dec. 27, 2022, at the Eubank Memorial Chapel Rev. Gordon Hudson officiating. Burial followed at Goshen Cemetery under direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank. 
Willie was born Oct. 14, 1945, in Athens and passed away Dec. 20, 2022 in Dallas. 
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Willie J. Wheeler and Ara Staines and brothers Larry Wheeler, Johnny Wheeler and Royce Wheeler. 
He graduated from Eustace High School in 1964 and then went to Henderson County Junior College. Later, he was employed over 30 years by Ford Motor Company where he worked as a security guard. 
After moving to Seagoville in 1975 he was very involved. He helped to form the Seagoville Bass Club where he became the first president. He was a football little league assistant coach for the Seagoville Sports Association. 
Also, he was elected city councilmen for the city of Seagoville. He served as president and later served as a board member of the SSCHI for several years. 
After retirement from Ford, he started a landscaping business of 15 years. Also, he helped maintain the Goshen cemetery for many years.  In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, ranching, going to Rangers Games, enjoying his grandchildren’s activities, traveling and playing games with his friends and family. 
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Letha Wheeler of Payne Springs, daughter and son-in-law Tammy and Mike Harrington of Seagoville, son and daughter-in-law Terry and Paulina Wheeler of San Jose, Calif., grandchildren Tyler of Boston, Ma., Chelsea of Seagoville and Jimmy and Jessica of San Jose, Calif., great-grandson Braylon of Seagoville, sister Sue and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Billy McGlaun, Kyle Abshire, Herb Buford, Rick Bushnell, Donald Fleming and Ron Strickland. He will be greatly missed by all.
