Mabank ISD Bond approved

CEDAR CREEK LAKE—The Mabank ISD Bond was approved by voters during the May 4 election with 826 votes for the bond from Henderson County and 566 votes from Kaufman County. “It’s a great day in the land of the Panther! The Board of Trustees and I thank the voters for supporting the bond proposal. It is a great step forward for both the students and the entire Mabank ISD community. You have my commitment and the commitment of the Board of Trustees to continue being good stewards of your money as we move forward with construction. We appreciate your trust and support,” Interim Superintendent Dr. Russell Marshall stated.  Mabank ISD also held an election for two board of trustee positions. Candidate John Litchfield secured Place 6 within the board as well as candidate Bryan K. Miller for Place 7. 
The election for Kemp ISD Board of Trustee Place 3 and Place 4 were secured by incumbents Matt Gross and Sharron Rodriguez Rankin. 
The City of Mabank held an election for the purpose of electing three council members in which John Chappell, Tyson Adams and Derek Harrill were the winning candidates against Ty Thompson and John Sully Sullivan.
The City of Gun Barrel also held an election to elect a mayor, and two council members. Mayor Brian Crull was re-elected, along with Council Member Place 2 Rita Evans. Candidate Jay Burson won the Council Member Place 4 position with 200 total votes against incumbent Cindy Key’s 182 votes. 
In the Seven Points Mayor election, candidate Keith Betts took home the winning seat earning 43 votes against candidates Charles Longacre’s 39 votes and Amber Edwards’ 12 votes. Candidates Valerie Bahm and LaJohnna Wells were also re-ecleted for another term.  
The highly anticipated West Cedar Creek Municipal Utility District election saw the incumbent board members Darrell Dean, Wanda Sanders and David Lewis re-elected with 201, 192, and 160 votes respectively. Opponents John Brasfield secured 119 votes, Shelly Hattan 38 votes, Randall Ingle 117 votes, and Leslie Anderson 117 votes.
