Janis May Poor, 82, passed away Feb. 13, 2024. She was born to the late Joseph and Juanita Jarvis Jan. 15, 1942, in Dallas. She graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1959.  She married Virgle Poor Dec. 1, 1961, and was blessed with two children Denise and Dusty.
Most of all, Janis loved her family and church family at Cedar Creek Bible Church.  She thrived in her love for the cattle business.  
She was an American International Charolais Association member for over 50 years while developing the herd at Poor Farm Charolais.  She was a Kaufman County Livestock and Forage Committee member for many years, where the Annual Hay Show was her most rewarding event.
She is survived by her husband, children Debra, Denise and Dusty, 11 grandchildren, 11-great-grandchildren, siblings Dennis and wife Sharon, Phyllis and husband Earnest, Thomas and Marcus and wife Tina, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation and viewing will be held at 10 a.m.  Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024, followed by a graveside service at 11 a.m. at Laurel Land Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 6300 S R L Thornton Frwy in Dallas.
