A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Stormie Dawn Matthews, 29, of Mabank, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2023 at Christian Life Center Church in Gun Barrel City with Bro. Jeff Reynolds officiating.
Stormie passed away peacefully June 16, 2023 in Houston. She was born in Abilene April 11, 1994 to Larry West and Deanna Turner West.
Stormie was a vibrant person, who lit up the room. She married her true love Dec. 7, 2019 and the couple was blessed with a beautiful boy Jace. 
Stormie loved being a wife and was a devoted mother. Stormie had a big heart and cared about the ones around her, she was the person on the other end of the phone when people needed to call 911. 
Stormie had been a 911 operator for six years, the last five as part of the dedicated dispatchers of the Kaufman County Sheriff Office. 
Stormie enjoyed reading, writing and photography. She was a huge “true crime junkie.” Stormie was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend. Her memory will live on in all that knew and loved her.
Stormie was preceded in death by her sister Emerson West and grandparents Geneva Rudnicki, Richard and Linda Turner and Jim Harris.
She is survived by her beloved husband Darian Matthews, son Jace Matthews, parents Larry and Deanna West, sister Saydee West, mother in-law Alicia Matthews and Shane Irlanda, father in-law James Matthews, grandparents-in-law Linda and Donny Matthews and Ronnie Radnicki, Memaw, Nina West, The Kaufman County Sheriff Department and a host of other family and friends.
The family will receive visitors at a reception with Stormie’s favorite foods, following the memorial service to share memories of the beautiful “Storm” that blessed everyone’s life.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Sheriff Beavers and all the dedicated people at the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office for bringing Stormie home to Mabank.
