Wanda Jean Harrup, 93, of Mabank was born Oct. 4, 1930, and passed away Feb. 9, 2024. 
She graduated from Mabank High School in 1947. She attended Texas Women's University in Denton for two years,and completed her degree in Business Administration at East Texas State College in Commerce. She retired from teaching in Mabank ISD.
Jean was married to Bo Atherton for 14 years and after his death married Paul Harrup. Jean loved traveling, reading, and sewing. But most of all, she valued family time, and fishing at their farm. 
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mabank, and a member of the Halcyon Club since 1967. She served her community as a "Meals on Wheels" volunteer and also served on the Southeast Kaufman County Nutrition Board.
She is survived by son Layne Atherton and wife Gina of Mabank, daughter Lisa Perkins and husband Joe of Mabank, grandchildren Emily Petty and husband Wade of Mabank, William Bo Atherton of Mabank and Caleb Reid Atherton of Mabank, great-grandson Dylan Petty of Mabank and cousin Dr. John Page Whitcher of San Francisco, Calif.
Funeral services were held Feb. 16, 2024, at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank with Pastor Kerry Clark and Pastor Larry Strandberg officiating. Jean will be laid to rest in Oaklawn Cemetery in Mabank.
