KERENS/CROSS ROADS–The Kerens Bobcats baseball team, who reached the Regional Quarterfinals after winning the District 20-2A title, is well-represented on the postseason list of notable players put together by 20-2A coaches.
Sophomore Kannon Ritchie is the District Most Valuable Player while his teammate, senior Daniel Conklin, reigns as the 20-2A Offensive Player of the Year. Krayton Ritchie, Kannon’s twin brother, was named a first-team pitcher.
Other Kerens players who were named first-team All-District include senior pitcher Trayton Spivey, sophomore infielder Andrew Conklin, sophomore catcher Matthew Rickard and junior outfielder Lane Lynch. Kerens Bobcats named second-team All-District feature junior outfielder Adrian Solis, junior outfielder Ryan Priddy and sophomore designated hitter JJ Hightower.
For the Cross Roads Bobcats, freshman pitcher Ruger Bane was named a second-team pitcher, as was Kyle Alexander, a junior. Another junior, Colton Hemphill, made second-team infield for Cross Roads, as did sophomore Tristan Himes. A second sophomore, Riley Brown, was honored as a second-team utility player.
