Eustace Bulldogs hold a Barbie themed mini cheer camp Aug. 4 for ages five through 12 at the high school. Cheerleader Ken and Barbie even made a special appearance, and some mini cheerleaders got to take home new Barbie toys.

Mabank High School holds a very successful volleyball team camp July 26. Panther volleyball thanks Coach Lyn Evans for coming and running camp. “Her knowledge of the game and experience was a great asset to our program. Our Panthers worked hard over the last three days, knocked some rust off and got better! We are proud of these ladies,” said program leaders. Tryouts began Monday and the girls play the first home game Aug. 8 against Palestine and Malakoff.

CEDAR CREEK LAKE–Tis the season once again for East Texas football, and schools all over the Cedar Creek Lake area are getting ready. Many have held workouts and camps for future players during the summer, and practices begin July 31.

Mabank High School’s gym is receiving a facelift this summer before athletes come back to practice. A new logo and striping are being painted on the gymnasium’s floor which has also been refinished. The yellowed floors have been sanded and refinished to a lighter hue, modernizing and brightening the gym for this season’s home games.

Treavor Thompson of Mabank shows off winning the Youth Scratch Master’s Tour U15 Mixed Championship. Thompson will make his third consecutive Junior Gold Championships tournament appearance in mid-July.
