Gun Barrel City Fire and Police Departments responded to a major car accident in the 1200 block of Harbor Point Road at 8:01 a.m., Dec. 15. A pickup truck left the roadway and rolled over several times before coming to rest against a building located in the Gun Barrel City Airpark. The driver of the vehicle was located by law enforcement near the site of the crash. The accident is being investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety as it occurred in Henderson County.

The 15-0 Malakoff Tigers win their 31st-consecutive football game Dec. 12 at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco by beating the Paradise Panthers in the State Semifinals, 27-19, to advance to play Thursday, Dec. 19 against the 14-1 Columbus Cardinals in the Class 3A Division I State Championship game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, seeking to repeat as State Champions.

Kerens basketball takes home Blooming Grove tourney trophies

The Kerens Bobcats boys’ basketball team, coached by Gerald Hurd, wins first place at the Blooming Grove tournament Dec. 7, beating Texas Wind High School of Waco 45-37 to secure the tournament championship. Kerens player Muziq Gunnell was named to the all-tournament team.
