Boat capsizes, two children die on Cedar Creek Lake

CEDAR CREEK LAKE—A boat carrying 10 adults and two children capsized in the Heatherwoods subdivision of Cedar Creek Lake around 10 p.m. June 22. 
Tool Volunteer Fire Department Lt. Randall Newkirk told The Monitor that the boat lost power, was pushed around by the waves and capsized after a large wave pushed the boat over. 
Two young passengers aged three and five, did not survive. The bodies of the two children were recovered one and half to two hours after the incident. Newkirk confirmed that the oldest child was wearing a life vest and the younger child was wearing a water wing life vest which is described as going around the neck and chest.  
All adults who were on the boat were able to get out of the water safely however multiple agencies from Tool, Long Cove, Payne Springs, Gun Barrel City, Seven Points, Trinidad, Henderson County, Texas State Troopers and the Texas Game Wardens responded to the incident to assist in locating the two children. Tow trucks, Cedar Creek Boat Recovery and UT Health was also on scene to offer assistance.  
The exact details of the incident have not been released as of press time and is currently under investigation.
