Business goes swimmingly for Cedar Creek Pools
CEDAR CREEK LAKE–After three years in business locally, a new 7,200-square foot retail facility, which held its grand opening June 10, has allowed Cedar Creek Pools to give its customers more options to have fun in the water.
Cedar Creek Pools is owned by Shannon Wiley, who has been in pool construction since 1989. Wiley recalls a saying from the man who first hired him in the business. “Get your feet wet without getting in over your head. And I’m trying to continue with that motto,” he says.
Cedar Creek Pools offers custom pool construction and has expanded to sell portable spas. The company provides service, maintenance and repairs, as well as handling pool remodeling, such as resurfacing.
“One thing that we strive to do is build a quality product in a timely manner at a good price,” Wiley remarks. His goal is to do enough volume to get rebates from distributors and pass on those savings to customers.
Wiley decided in late 2021 to expand his business at a new location between Mabank and Kemp on U.S. Highway 175. “This idea came from my customers, I wasn’t planning on having a pool store,” Wiley explains.
Besides having retail space for pools and spas, Cedar Creek Pools’ new headquarters still includes a design room for customers to go over options, such as pool tile, which had been included in the company’s former location.
The new location gives customers even more service, with a water lab to test for salt, chlorine and phosphates. Cedar Creek Pools sells water stabilizers to get the right pH balance to prevent corrosion and allow for longer-lasting enjoyment of pools and spas.
“After the pool’s finished now, they have a location they can come to for after-market repairs and chemicals,” Wiley comments.
For Cedar Creek Pools, demand has stayed at a high-water mark. “It’s insane how things have exploded down here,” says Wiley, who related that a realtor group told him it would be surprising to have 10 pools built around the lake in a year. Right now, Cedar Creek Pools has 30 active projects at Cedar Creek Lake.
Wiley says his company will build at least 60 pools this year, after building 42 in 2021. Cedar Creek Pools has four full-time employees and will have an inside sales representative come on board in late July.
Cedar Creek Pools’ on-hand equipment is geared toward its current customer base, Wiley says. “As we grow, I’m sure our inventory will expand,” Wiley states.
