The volunteers of Payne Springs Fire Rescue (PSFR) were alerted to a structure fire in the Wood Canyon Waters II subdivision Oct. 30. PSFR Engine 1 arrived on location to find a large two-story lake house with 100% fire involvement. Engine 1 laid 1,000 feet of five-inch hose from the street down the driveway to the house. Units established a water supply on the street. The house was a total loss. One vehicle was destroyed and another was damaged. One resident suffered burns that required transport to the Parkland Hospital Burn Center in Dallas via a medical helicopter. Two pets perished in the fire. The following agencies assisted PSFR on scene: Gun Barrel City Fire, Eustace Fire, Long Cove Fire, Mabank Fire, UT Health EMS and Henderson County Fire Marshal. District 8 fire sent a unit to stand by at PSFR Station 1 for area coverage.
