HENDERSON COUNTY—In a letter from Henderson County Attorney Clint Davis and Henderson County District Attorney Jenny Palmer, they state that the former Caney City Police Chief Charles Gregory will face a charge of cruelty to animals. 
The allegation stems from a single incident that occurred April 8 where it is alleged Gregory picked up a stray dog in the city limits of Trinidad, drove it to the City of Malakoff and abandoned the dog. 
“While investigating this allegation, there is some evidence that tends to show that Chief Gregory made false statements to the officers of the Trinidad Police Department. We believe these charges likely trigger a duty to disclose the pending charges under Morton and the dishonest statement(s) likely trigger the same duty to disclose under Brady v. Maryland. Therefore, we are making these disclosures pursuant to Morton and Brady v. Maryland,” states the letter which was addressed to the Henderson County Defense Bar. 
According to the letter, Gregory has a second charge of official oppression which was not filed.
