GUN BARREL CITY– On March 29, locals flocked to Gun Barrel City Park for the city’s Easter egg hunt event. Hundreds of little ones came ready to run, with parents and baskets in tow.
Children ages 0-4 hunted on Tommy Smith field, but with more small children than expected, some of the children were moved to Justice Field with the children aged 5-8 years.
Mayor David Skains led each hunt, organizing parents and children and starting the hunts. As soon as the siren was blasted through Skains’s megaphone, the children were off, rapidly collecting each egg on the fields. It took mere minutes for each egg to be gathered and each child to exit the field happy.
The Easter Bunny hopped around between the fields for meet-and-greets and photos.
