Gun Barrel City Police investigate child death

GUN BARREL CITY–The Gun Barrel City Police and Fire Departments responded to a call of possible carbon monoxide poisoning Nov. 26 in the 100 block of Garret Lane in Gun Barrel City. 
According to a press release, upon arrival police and fire located four patients, a three-year-old female, a four-year-old male, a six-year-old male and a 28-year-old female. The six-year-old male was unresponsive. Police, fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) immediately attempted life-saving measures and all four patients were transported via fire and EMS to UT Health Texas Cedar Creek Lake. 
According to the press release, the six-year-old male succumbed to his injuries. The three-year-old female and four-year-old male were transferred to Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth in critical condition. The 28-year-old female is expected to recover.
The Gun Barrel City Police Department notified Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse and requested assistance from the Henderson County Crimes Against Children Taskforce. The Henderson County District Attorney Jenny Palmer was also notified and a District Attorney Investigator was requested for assistance. 
Investigators from the Gun Barrel City Police Department, Crimes Against Children Taskforce and the District Attorney’s office responded. The Henderson County Crimes Against Children Taskforce is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Gun Barrel City Police Department. 
The cause of death is under investigation. Gun Barrel City Police Department asks that the public keeps the family of this tragic incident in their prayers.
