Kaufman County to purchase road equipment for Pct. 4

Commissioners approved the purchase of a Bomag articulated tandem roller and paving machine at the Sept. 5 meeting.

KAUFMAN COUNTY–Commissioners approved purchases for Precinct 4 road equipment totaling over $600,000 Sept. 5 at the county’s regular meeting. Some roads in the precinct have recently received a facelift, however, there are many more to be done and new equipment is needed.
The first purchase approved was for a Bomag articulated tandem roller in an amount just under $130,000. Bomag is a construction machinery company which prides itself on optimization and quality, offering cost-effective machines promising to allow users to complete paving projects more quickly.
The second approved purchase is for an asphalt screed in the amount of $96,437. Lastly, commissioners approved the purchase of a Bomag paving machine for the precinct in the amount of $377,480.
The items are to be purchased utilizing BuyBoard and Sourcewell contracts and funds will come from Precinct 4’s road and bridge budget.
Commissioners also approved a transfer of $17,300 in road bond funds.
In other business, commissioners:
• Approved minutes from the Aug. 29 meeting.
• Approved increases in election service item “judge kit” and base contracted election costs.
• Approved Nov. 6 constitutional amendment/joint election contract.
• Approved the execution of a contract with Election Systems and Software to purchase 100 ballot marking devices with four-year financing, as approved in the FY24 budget.
• Approved supplemental information to the appointment of election judges, alternate judges, early voting officers, ballot board members and central count station personnel for the remainder of the 2022-24 submission term.
• Approved final plats for Cedar Creek Ranch plots 1-6 located on FM 1391 and County Road 4018 in Precinct 4.
• Denied replat of lots 9 and 10 of Suburban Estates phase one located on County Road 140 in Precinct 1.
• Approved amendment to Kaufman County subdivision and land development regulations.
• Approved renewal of RFQ 19-17 for one year, also approving authorization for Article V of the consulting engineering service agreement within.
• Approved the 2023 collection contract of ad valorem taxes for Spradley Farms PID.
• Approved a lease purchase in the amount of $47,499 for Dell servers for the Sheriff’s Office.
• Approved posting of HR Director position and detailed duties.
• Approved no changes to the 2024 Sheriff and Constable fees.
• Designated commissioners’ court meeting dates as Tuesday mornings each week for the year.
• Approved line-item and budget transfers.
• Accepted claims for payment and financial information provided by the county auditor.
