KEMP–Kemp City Park was transformed from a wide-open green space for play into a bustling marketplace for the city’s annual Wildflower Festival April 8. More than 120 vendors signed up for this year’s event, bringing a variety of food, products and entertainment to the grounds.
Kemp Police and Fire blockaded downtown streets for the celebration, with pop-up tents as far as the eye could see. Eventgoers enjoyed performances from Kemp Cheer and the Stingerettes before hearing music from Dallas-based band The Rockmollys.
Plates were stacked with burgers, crawfish, barbecue, tacos and more as food trucks and booths from Jamba Juice, Indian Outlaw BBQ, Los 2 Regios, The Great Crepe of Texas, Tacos los Garcias, Mac Stack and many more were present all day. Grandma’s Best was present with homemade cakes, fried pies, and cookies, and ice cream stands and shaved ice booths brought some chill to the hot spring day. Snack Machine Freeze Dried Candy Cottage was also on hand to quell the crowd’s munchies.
Children had plenty to do, as activities abounded for them all over the festival, and the park’s playground was packed with smiling faces.
The event was sponsored by Kemp Mini Storage, Tri-County Ford, Lakeside Animal Clinic, McAfee Insurance, Lisa Rhodes of Keller Williams, Dairy Queen, Harvey’s Towing & Recovery, The Garrison, Project Kemp, Harmony Bank, Beacon Hill and many other local businesses.
