KEMP–The City of Kemp held two public hearings to consider amending a zoning ordinance for office, retail, commercial and service type uses and to consider the approval of a specific use permit.
Changing the verbiage in Table 5B Section 42-669 from the “type of use” of heavy equipment sales with heavy machinery or equipment, sales or rental. The action was later approved unanimously by the council. The specific use permit for “heavy machinery or equipment, sales or rental” was also approved for the incoming business. CAT Heavy Equipment plans to bring the use of heavy equipment to the Kemp area and hopes to close on their property in the Kemp Business Park Friday, May 20.
Kemp Mayor Christi Neal officiated the oath of office for Council Members Leona Bounds, Greg Capehart and Lesley Rose. Bounds and Rose are returning council members while Capehart is new to the city council.
In other business, council members:
• Approved the minutes of the April 26 council meeting.
• Approved a variance request regarding the replat of properties located at 103 and 107 South Elm and 205 East 10th Street.
• Approved the replat of property consisting of approximately 0.4936 acres of land that is situated at 103 and 107 South Elm and 205 East 10th Streets.
• Heard staff reports, hearing that downtown sidewalks will continue to be repaired sections at a time until September and that construction continues on the CEFCO convenience store.
