MABANK–Mabank ISD Superintendent Brad Koskelin introduced Amanda Bolton as the new Intermediate School Principal at the June 27 Board meeting. Bolton comes highly recommended from Crandall ISD and attended the meeting with her husband Chance and young sons.
It was another evening filled with celebration as the BETA Club returned from the state competition, bearing many wins. Sponsor Nicci Romero told the group this is the 12th year that the school excelled, qualifying for national competition. She gave credit to those teachers and parents who consistently help the club succeed.
The highlight of the presentation was a performance by the Show Choir, featuring a medley of Texas tunes accompanied by dance. The show choir took home the first place trophy at state.
The board approved new salary schedules for teachers, librarians, and staff, representing a 4% increase.
The board also approved authorizing Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Scott Hyde as the Investment Officer for Mabank ISD and gave him the ability to perform transactions in the investment pools and to calculate the No-New-Revenue Tax Rate for the district.
In other business, trustees:
• Approved donations made by local businesses to MHS Beta Club for the upcoming National Convention Dinner. Donations were made by A-Solutions Plumbing, Canton Lumber, Hills Can Do LLC, Lakeside Collision Center, Mosely, Groom and Associates, Nickelson Air LLC, P5 Construction, Story Electric Company, Teague Chevrolet, Tri-County Ford and Cedar Creek Pools.
• Approved purchase of Curriculum Associates i-Ready Learning Math Resource for Kindergarten through sixth grade.
• Approved ABM Contract Renewal with a 3% increase which is to be passed down to employees as a salary increase.
• Approved the Student Athletic and Activities Accident Insurance renewal at the same premium as last year.
• Had the first reading of TASB Policy Update 119.
