Malakoff hires assistant superintendent

During the May 19 Malakoff ISD school board meeting, trustees hire Wes Rhoten as assistant superintendent. Rhoten is in his 29th year in public education. Rhoten has served as a teacher, coach, athletic director, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent and interim superintendent. Before coming to Malakoff, Rhoten served as the assistant superintendent at Scurry-Rosser ISD (SRISD). Prior to his time at SRISD, Rhoten was the high school principal of Canton ISD. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Harding University in 1996. Rhoten also holds a master’s degree in education from Texas A&M University-Commerce. Rhoten and his wife Kristi, who is a second grade teacher in Canton, have two grown children, Landry and Emory, and a grandson Brady to Landry and her husband Sam.
