Man charged in death of Cedar Creek Lake-area infant
HENDERSON COUNTY—The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) says it was contacted by Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth Jan. 28 in reference to an infant possibly being abused.
According to a press release, the Henderson County Crimes Against Children Task Force began an investigation into the infant’s condition.
During the investigation investigators learned the infant’s father, Paul Gonzalez, allegedly caused the injuries.
According to Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse, the infant did not survive the injuries. The department will be working with the Henderson County District Attorney to pursue the next steps, he added.
An arrest warrant for Gonzalez was issued Jan. 30 by Henderson County 392nd Judicial District Judge Scott McKee for the offense of injury to a child, which is a first-degree felony, according to the sheriff’s office. Gonzalez was placed under arrest in Fort Worth and transported to the Henderson County Jail, the release states.
Gonzalez was arraigned by Henderson County Precinct 5 Justice of the Peace Tanya Norris Jan. 31, during which his bail was set at $500,000, according to the sheriff’s office.
